The Company operates a wafer fabrication facility at its headquarters in Alhambra CA where it designs and builds semiconductors, and has vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities in Alhambra CA, Concord CA, Budd Lake NJ, and Tinley Park IL . Based at EMCORE Corporation headquarters in Alhambra, California, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for the project cost accounting related to internal R&D and NRE contracts. The project accountant will be responsible for the cost analysis, calculate contract revenue and cost of sales, project inventory, and estimated margin analysis. This position requires the ability to maintain accurate revenue and cost of sales for significant EMCORE Corporation customer contracts. In compliance with Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual salary range for this role is $95,000 - $120,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review new NRE Contracts that meets ASC 606 Revenue Recognition Standard.
  • Review internal R&D project costs comparing budgets to actuals.
  • Responsible for the NRE Contracts Revenue and Cost Recognition: Point Over-Time & Point In-Time.
  • Reconcile Customer Contract Backlog and Customer Contract Asset & Liability:
    • Deferred Contract Revenue
    • Deferred Contract Cost
    • Unbilled Contract Revenue Receivable
    • Track and reconcile project inventory & WIP.
    • Maintain projects: BAC and ETC.
    • Maintain contracts: backlog, contract values, and contract funds.
    • Organize monthly meetings with Project Managers to evaluate and to document project progress.
    • Support Customer Milestone Progress Billing process. General Monthly and Month-end Activities:
      • Book Journal Entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
      • Allocate Direct Labor Cost.
      • Intercompany costs reconciliation.
      • Reconcile Project Costs and Revenue.
      • Calculate NRE Contract Revenue based on Percentage of Completion Methodology.
      • Calculate and maintain rates in ERP: Fringe, Labor, Manufacturing, R&D, Material, and G&A.
      • Distribute month end financial reports: R&D projects, Departmental Expenses, and NRE Contract Summary.
      • Support Internal Project Reviews (IPRs).
      • Support Bid and Proposal.
      • Support Manufacturing Production Standard Cost Conversion.
      • Support inventory cycle count.
      • Support Contract Manufacturers (CM) & Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) inventory reconciliations.
      • Support external and internal (SOX) audits.
      • Ad-Hoc duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. General Monthly and Month-end Activities:

        • Ad-Hoc duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
          • Education: Bachelor's in accounting or related field.
          • 5 years of minimum experience required in Project Accounting and Government Contracting:
            • Experience and working knowledge of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), CAS (Cost Accounting Standards), and GAAP
            • Capable of interfacing with people of all levels and functions including Senior Management, Controller, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management and Sales/Business Development.
            • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
            • Microsoft Excel
            • Good knowledge and understanding of computer applications (ERP) Preferred Characteristics:
              • Proactive (good sense of urgency) and has a "can-do" attitude. Preferred Experience/Skills:
                • Education: Master's in accounting or related field.
                • Experience in both Engineering Services and Manufacturing Industries.
                • Experience working with DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency) and DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency)
                • Experience in applications: Infor - Syteline (ERP) and IBM - TM1 *As a federal contractor, we are required to have all candidates offered employment to pass a criminal background check and a multi-panel drug screening, prior to starting employment.
