Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the Corporate
Director of Materials Management/Supply Chain is the management and
supervision of the evaluation, procurement, storage, distribution,
and forecasting of all supplies and equipment. The Corporate
Director of Materials Management/Supply Chain is responsible for
the overall activities of the Corporate Materials Management
Department, which includes the coordination of Group Purchasing
Organization (GPO) contracts and the Materials Management computer
system. The incumbent will interact effectively and professionally
with facilities directors, executives, and managers and corporate
to reach positive outcomes. The incumbent plans, organizes and
directs the supply chain processes in accordance with established
policies and in compliance with the Joint Commission, state and
federal regulatory requirements. The incumbent recommends budget
information to the facilities for capital expenditures, operating
expenses and revenue. The incumbent uses independent judgment to
make decisions related to Materials Management activities dealing
with assigned projects. The incumbent assist the Chief Financial
Officer with company-wide initiatives. -ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
The incumbent establishes and maintains policies for purchasing,
receiving, and warehousing, general stores, and supply
distribution.2. The incumbent is responsible for the management and
supervision of the evaluation, procurement, storage, distribution,
and forecasting of all supplies and equipment.3. The incumbent
develops long/short range goals and objectives for the operations
and supply chain functions in concert with the facilities and
company business strategy(ies).4. The incumbent works to develop
standardization of products and equipment. Coordinates the
standardization of supplies and equipment within the
organization.5. The incumbent maintains in depth knowledge of Group
Purchasing Organization (GPO) purchasing program and solid
knowledge of other GPO product category programs.6. The incumbent
is responsible for the overall activities of the Materials
Management Department, which includes the coordination of Group
Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts and the Materials
Management computer system.7. The Corporate Director of Materials
Management/Supply Chain is responsible for contract management.
Develops, maintains and coordinates a system for regularly
scheduling contract reviews.8. The incumbent negotiates costs with
suppliers that meet budget, deliver the best financial deal, while
achieving a sustainable relationship with the supplier and never
compromising on quality or patient care. Constantly works with and
challenges, suppliers to search for efficiencies.9. The incumbent
forecasts usage and costing models, as well as supplier auditing to
ensure contract compliance. Leads the development and
implementation of demand and supply planning processes, tools, and
technologies.10. The incumbent reviews routinely purchasing
practices to assure that staff are procuring and utilizing
appropriate contracts and tiers.11. The incumbent is responsible
for selection of suppliers giving consideration to quality of
service and cost to the organization.12. The incumbent assists in
planning and budgeting phases of supply and equipment purchases.
Provides various cost and usage reports. Creates system of supply
cost containment and equipment/instrument control.13. The incumbent
ensure accurate data is reported through interfaces with Finance/GL
Accounting.14. The incumbent works primarily with procurement,
inventory, distribution and hospital/department leadership to
create a supply chain environment designed to reduce supply and
equipment expenditures and improve supply chain efficiencies.15.
The incumbent works with identified vendors and distributors to
develop and implement various inventory controls and distribution
and tracking systems.16. The incumbent negotiates with supply and
equipment vendors to ensure cost effective purchasing.17. The
incumbent participates in performance improvement and continuous
quality improvement activities.18. The Corporate Director of
Materials Management ensures compliance with all policies,
applicable laws, and regulations.19. The incumbent complies with
all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical
business practices.20. The incumbent represents the organization in
a positive and professional manner at all times.21. The incumbent
provides leadership and guidance to the directors, managers, and
supervisors as it relates to the implementation of specific
projects as needed. The incumbent recommends budget information to
the facilities for capital expenditures, operating expenses and
revenue.22. The incumbent is responsible for assuring that assigned
projects are completed in a timely, within budget, and in an
efficient manner.23. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating
with internal and external resources to ensure the success of the
assigned projects.24. The incumbent is responsible for keeping
abreast of relevant issues that may affect Materials
Management/Supply Chain. The incumbent is to maintain his/her
immediate supervisor informed of any issues that may affect the
positive outcome of a designated project.25. The incumbent assists
the Chief Financial Officer with company-wide initiatives.26. This
position is responsible for assuring all stakeholders are well
informed and have the tools necessary to execute as needed.27. The
incumbent is accountable for communicating to his/her immediate
supervisor of any possible issues, which may arise in order to
proactively develop an action plan to minimize or eliminate the
issue.28. The incumbent is responsible for acting in an ethical
manner at all times.29. The incumbent complies with the company's
Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy at all times.30.
The incumbent is responsible for complying with company policies,
the Joint Commission Standards, CDPH regulations, local, state, and
federal laws.31. The incumbent develops and analyses reports to
provide educated sound recommendations related to programs and
other activities related to the specific projects as necessary.32.
The incumbent assists in the research, planning developing, and
implementing of new policies and procedures as necessary or
requested.33. The incumbent performs other duties as assigned.
-TRAINING/EXPERIENCE1. Five+ year's professional leadership
experience in Materials Management/Supply Chain in an acute care
health care environment.2. Bachelor's (BS or BA) degree in business
administration, accounting, or related field.3. Demonstrated
excellent negotiation skills.4. Must possess the skills to
determine appropriate course of action in complex situations.5.
Must possess the ability to work independently, exercise
creativity, be attentive to detail, be complaint with regulations,
and maintain a positive attitude.6. Must demonstrate the ability to
manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize
scheduling of work.7. Knowledgeable in laws and regulations
affecting the materials management/supply chain field.8. Knowledge
of federal, state and local regulations affecting the healthcare
field. Must maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and
legal information.9. Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations.

Medical Center Coastside, a 116-bed skilled nursing facility, and
