Job Summary: Serves as a clinical and operational resource for all nursing activities in the department. When in charge, oversees and
authorizes incidental overtime; Provides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and students.
--- Delegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilities
--- Coaches and supports nursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient
care activities
--- Evaluates, facilitates and promotes patient flow, coordinates discharge planning and team rounding as applicable.
--- Assumes responsibility for mentoring, coaching and staff development, acts as change champion; Contributes to
performance evaluations.

Leads, supports and mentors one of the three clinical advancement pathways (Clinical Quality Education, Leadership)
where they serve as a mentor/preceptor/educator, lead a clinical quality or nursing research initiative to improve
outcomes, or serve as a charge nurse or council chair and other related activities.
--- Participates in the completion of required skill and competencies
--- Assists with strategic planning; participates in activities related to recruitment and retention
--- Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access
--- Evaluates and works to improve the process of patient care delivery within the unit and service centers
--- Provides advanced assessment skills, integrating appropriate data sources to assess the signs, symptoms, reactions,
behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics
--- Provides expert comprehensive direct and indirect care to the specific populations needs, including cultural, spiritual,
age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family and condition needs
--- Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to
provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patient
Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Licenses: RN State License (California State RN License)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Specialty Nursing Certification Experience: a CN III at CSMC for a minimum of one year, or a new hire with at least (5) years of experience in their specialty upon hire. Physical Demands: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting 50 lbs. Carrying 50 lbs. Pushing 75 lbs. Pulling 75 lbs. Balancing, Stooping, Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination, Reaching, Handling, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing
