In this job, you'll provide hands-on technical support and maintenance for the integration and management of our Energy Management System (EMS) for Grid operations. You will focus on resolving the highly technical and complex problems occurring within the Transmission SCADA/EMS portfolio. You will collaborate with the operations and maintenance staff and work with business clients and IT partners to maximize the value of our managed control platforms. Serving in this role, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to other professionals in the day-to-day operations of our systems. As a SCADA Engineer, you will support mission critical applications, including tier-3 support and occasional rotating after-hours responsibility. You will also provide input on projects where a high level of SCADA and control system expertise is required to effectively integrate new systems, new functions, and processes.   • Leading and providing operational support, troubleshooting and modifications to the Energy Management System (EMS) that supports SCE's management of the Electrical Grid along with Remedial Action Schemes (RAS), Inter-Control Center Protocol (ICCP), Red Flag, Load Shed, and Transmission Security Management (TSM).
  • Perform software development and maintenance support for the SCE Energy Management System (EMS) as they relate to the operation and control of the Electrical Grid.
  • Troubleshoot controls hardware issues and/or equipment performance/response issues related to all field devices connected to the EMS. Assist Grid Operations and infrastructure engineers/technicians with troubleshooting.
  • Provides recommendations to senior management on high-level technical issues pertaining to the EMS and other Grid Control applications which may include Centralized Remedial Action Schemes (CRAS), Phasor, Distribution Management System (DMS), and Transmission Security Management (TSM). Qualifications
    The essentials
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or scientific/ technical/ math related field.
    • Five (5) or more years of experience in SCADA, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), or Process Control Systems.
    • Experience with one or more of the following:DNP 3.0, Modbus, IEC61850, Inter Control Center Protocol (TASE2/ICCP), 2030.5, and OPC automation protocols. The preferred
      • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Electrical Engineering.
      • Experience modifying, developing, testing, and debugging software using C or C++, JAVA, and .Net.
      • Experience developing tools using various scripting languages and using/developing SQL commands / scripts.
      • Knowledge of software Inter-Process Communication (IPC) techniques.
      • Experience and knowledge with Linux/UNIX shell environments and proficient in bash/ksh scripting You should know ---
        • When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
